Well,
I was thinking something interesting to post..
I'll show you the most awarded films by the academy, the biggest winners of OSCAR.


Academy Awards (Oscar) is an award given annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, founded in Los Angeles, California on May 11, 1927.


Every year, the world stop to watch the awards, the films selected to compete statuettes.
But who chooses the winners?
Who chooses the winners is the academy!


But, wait..
What is the academy? and who is the academy?



Well, academy are the members.
Members of academia are those who have been nominated for an Oscar, once nominated for best actor, best director, best effects, tracks, finally, you become a member of the academy and received the privilege of voting.


Oscar is an American award that clearly gives advantages to U.S. productions.



Brazil was nominated a few times:


  • 1944:
  • Best Original Song - Ary Barroso for "Rio de Janeiro" of film Brazil (indicated)
  • 1959:
  • Best Foreign Film – Orfeu Negro (winner)  - Although it was filmed in Brazil, with Brazilian actors and spoken in Portuguese, Oscar found that this is a French film by the nationality of its director, Marcel Camus.
  • 1962:
  • Best Foreign Film – O Pagador de Promessas (indicated)
  • 1985:
  • Best film – O Beijo da Mulher-Aranha (indicated, American co-production)
  • Best director – Hector Babenco for O Beijo da Mulher-Aranha (indicated, argentino)
  • Best actor – William Hurt  O Beijo da Mulher-Aranha (winner, american)
  • Best Adapted Screenplay – Leonard Schrader for O Beijo da Mulher-Aranha (indicated, american)
  • 1995:
  • Best Foreign Film – O Quatrilho (indicated)
  • 1997:

  • 2003:
  • Best picture – César Charlone for Cidade de Deus (indicated, Uruguayan living in Brazil.)
  • Best direction – Fernando Meirelles for Cidade de Deus (indicated)
  • Best editing – Daniel Rezende for Cidade de Deus (indicated)
  • Best Adapted Screenplay – Bráulio Mantovani for Cidade de Deus (indicated)
  • 2004:
  • Best short animated film – Carlos Saldanha por Gone Nutty (indicado)
  • 2011:
  • Best documentary - Lixo Extraordinário (indicated)
  • 2012:
  • Original Song - Real in Rio of Sérgio Mendes and Carlinhos Brown of filme Rio. (indicated)

This year we deserved to win the award for original song, Real in Rio of Sergio Mendes and Carlinhos Brown, but was given the movie Muppets.
As I said, benefits are given to American films.

3º The Lord of the Rings: The return of the King (2003): 11 statuettes


Best Film, Best Director (Peter Jackson), Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Art Direction, Best Costume Design, Best Makeup, Best Visual Effects, Best Editing, Best Score, Best Sound Mixing and Best Original Song.
